Famous rivers are not the only areas for rafting and ride the big rapids. You can find many areas that have just as fast and high moving rapids when you go white water rafting West Virginia style. Yes, even Virginia has some awesome river rapids with classification I to IV. The spectacular New River Gorge follows over fifty-three mile of fun rapid action and some relaxing time in between. This river gets the blood flowing and the excitement is magnificent.

You will find yourself resting between rapids and enjoying some relaxing times talking and listening to our guide talk about the areas and stopping at some areas of interest. This experience surely leaves you fulfilled and delighted. You will sit around the fire at night and share rafting stories and if this is your first time, you will hear some amazingwhite water rafting in West Virginia stories. Shoot the upper river or the lower river; you cannot beat the ride or the scenery that awaits you. The ravishing waters will thrush you around and when you have a minute to think, you will find yourself with the most intense adrenaline rush ever. No one ever walks away from the WestVirginia experience untouched. You experience nature in all it glory. The rapids are extraordinary, while the scenery is outstanding.

The West Virginia River the Gauley has some great white river rafting around the area. The spring brings lower water levels when the Army fills the reservoir in Summersville. This gives you a real rush because the drops are extreme. The water runs out of the reservoir at such rates to send you flying down the river. About one million gallons of water is released in one minute. Some love the Beast of the East, the Gauley River, but the New River Gorge sometimes called the Grand Canyon of the east gives you fantastic views of the rock formations and the trees that grow up out of rivers banks. The white water rafting in West Virginia leaves you breathless and wanting more. Some even hang around for rock climbing and hiking, which also becomes another memorable experience. Nowhere else you go will ever offer an experience as this, these rapids are a one of a kind from the start to the finish. Now get out and enjoy some greatwhite water rafting times with friends or family.

West Virginia whitewater rafting, known as America’s best whitewater, features the New River and the Gauley River – set in the rugged Appalachian Mountains. These rivers offer plenty of opportunities in addition to rafting: swimming, kayaking, fishing expeditions, etc. The New River took millions of years to carve this incredible gorge filled with breathtaking scenery, rich history and exciting whitewater rafting. Dependable and consistent year round water flows and exciting rapids like Surprise, Railroad and The Keeney Brother have made New River rafting a whitewater classic.

You can go rafting all the year, but you have to know it means a different challenge in every season. In springtime the river is full of big waves, only those with courage and adrenaline lovers try whitewater rafting in spring. This is class V, which means ‘very challenging’. Summer is for those who like cozy circumstances and who would like to enjoy scenery, instead of shouting and flinging among waves. It also means warm water, so you can swim and enjoy sunshine, too. If you go in autumn, you’ll love the colors of the nature. Another advantage of this season is that it is less crowded in autumn. So any time is a great time to experience whitewater rafting. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner. There are many sections that are suitable for first-time rafters. Start with easy level, and you won’t have any problem. Additionally, anybody can try whitewater rafting, even children, pensioners or coach potatoes. So there is no excuse!

Maryland and West Virginia have played each other every year since 1980 and the all-time series is knotted at 21-21-2. As even as this series has been, my first instinct is to take the 16.5 points Maryland is getting, but the Terrapins have dropped two straight to the Big East powerhouse. However, the Mountaineers have not won three straight over the Terrapins since 1996-1998. Maryland was in good position to disallow any winning streaks by its Big East rivals last season before giving up 24 fourth quarter points to lose 31-19.

With getting better than two touchdowns, one factor looking good for Maryland is the fact that West Virginia hasn’t been tested at all in its first two games. Tailback Steve Slaton and quarterback Pat White didn’t even play the entire game against Eastern Washington last Saturday. These two highly-touted skill players will likely start slow in their first real test of the season.

Due to playing two extremely weak opponents to begin the season, West Virginia’s has the top rushing offense in the nation, the third in total yards, and the sixth in points. Maryland’s offense has been shaky. The Terps turned the ball over four times in their season opener to 1-AA William & Mary and they were outgained by Middle Tennessee last Saturday. However, Maryland has proven that its defense will be a formidable force this season. It was Maryland’s defense which kept the Terps in nearly every game last year. The Terps will be pumped up to play a team that they had beat last season. We will see their best effort of the season to this point and a much more aggressive offensive approach by coach Ralph Friedgen. Hollenbach played a career game last year against the Mountaineers and that will give him an extra boost of confidence in this one. Maryland’s quarterback threw for 291 yards on 20-for-31 passing in last year’s matchup, and I like him to have a great game again this year as West Virginia only returns 1 starter in the secondary.

The fact that this game is being played on a Thursday night also lends me to give the nod to the Terps as it will give the Mountaineers less time to prepare for their first test of the season. Maryland also has to deal with the same time constraints, but preparation won’t be as critical for the Terrapins as they know what to expect with West Virginia. The Mountaineers are going to run the ball nearly every play. The most important factor for the Terps is just to play like they have nothing to lose because they don’t. Also, not having to wait until Saturday gives Maryland’s passing attack the advantage as West Virginia’s inexperienced defensive backs won’t get as good of a look at the Terps’ offensive sets as they would in a normal week.

There’s no doubt that West Virginia is a good offensive football team and it will move the ball against Maryland despite Maryland boasting a solid defense. The Terps will be able to pass the football against West Virginia however, and I’ll take them in this one as better than two touchdown dogs with a small play.
